About Me
My name is Toni and I've been interested in miniatures since 1996 when my husband bought me my first house!

Little did he know what would happen next!

 I became totally hooked on miniatures, in particular 1:12 scale. So much so that in 1997, I opened a Dolls' House and Miniatures Shop. It was like being in heaven, being surrounded by miniatures, a true passion. Being able to make miniatures came quite naturally too.

However, I found making miniatures, running a shop and having a large family of young children, not to mention the dogs, do not mix well, so something had to go and with regret I closed up and concentrated on making miniatures from home and attending the occasional dolls' house & miniatures fairs.

Then came eBay, but that meant computers, now I was worried, so John taught me how to use his computer and within a week it was my computer! I have not looked back since then. I was
making various 1:12 scale pieces including bridal items and furniture, in fact I seem to be able to turn my hand to making most things. I would sometimes enlist John's help to make me things from wood.

As eBay grew I felt I needed to look for a new avenue. I had already dressed many porcelain dolls but this was not giving me the sense of achievement I was looking for so I tried my hand at making my own dolls. Well I must admit this took longer than the computer to master, but I was constantly given encouragement from my very supportive family and friends, so much so that I thought I would offer them for sale on eBay just to see what happens, after all I had nothing to lose. Again I have not looked back!!

I adore creating my character dolls and this was the seed for  SMALLSORTS.

I love to think of true life events and situations and sometimes give them a comical twist and recreate this in my dolls. I talk to my little creations when I am making them, sometimes even curse them if they are not being as cooperative as I want them to be. These miniature creations are part of my life and I want to put life into them, which is why I probably talk to them, after all I sometimes get more sense out of them than I do the husband!
